Reflection
In this task at first I’m going to reflect on my experiences with the tools I haven’t used frequently. Afterwards I will go on with the new media which profited the highest benefit for me.
“Wordle” is a very nice tool and was completely new to me. I wasn’t aware of the fact that programs like these exist and can be handled so easy. It is a medium that is especially helpful to make a vivid presentation or to catch the tendency of a literary text. But for myself as a student I really don’t see advantages in fielding this tool.
The medium “flickr” disappointed me a little bit. I heard of it before and I thought it would delimitate in some special things from social networks like facebook. But in my opinion it didn’t because flicker is just a platform to show pictures which is also possible on facebook. For this reason I think it is dispensable although the work with “flickr” was still interesting.
The biggest surprise in my work with the new media and also the best experience was the work with the tool “pirate pad”. Maybe because also here I was unaware of the existence of such a medium, the surprise was even bigger. I personally will use “pirate pad” the most in my future work as a teacher because I think it is a great opportunity, for example to present the results of group works in class. “Pirate pad” is something complete new to me and I guess, for this reason it will be an appropriate diversion for presentations in school and for the students. I really enjoyed working with it.
For me personally and for my private life I regard “netvibes” as the best invention compared to the others. Everyday life starts in the 21st century also by starting the computer and logging into the internet. And with only one click you have a complete new desk right in your computer with all the important information and things that are useful for yourself. Not only it was really useful for myself it was even really entertaining to put new stuff on my own “netvibes” page. I still use it and work with it.
Last but not least I mention my experiences with the tool “weebly” which is the most important medium for this course because with this we have to work and to create our e-portfolio to pass this course. I was always interested in creating a homepage more for the reason of curiosity than for the reason of necessity. But the problem was that I knew that the work with “html” is very difficult and needs a lot of time to comprehend. That’s why I was very happy to get to know a platform like weebly, on which even an amateur can easily create a homepage. Of course the opportunities of creativity are limited but still lots of amazing changes for your website are possible, so that in the end 100 different people could have 100 completely different “weebly” homepages. Although it is a work for a university course I am glad that I’m now aware of the existence of weebly because I will definitely make more “weebly” pages in near future. Therefore I regard the whole work with “weebly” and the creating of my e-portfolio as a very helpful, entertaining and a good experience in my studies.
